Exploring Kuching – Planetarium Sultan Iskandar & Kuching Civic Center
After spending quite some time and having our breakfast in Atap Street, we took a cab and headed over to Planetarium Sultan Iskandar.
This is the first planetarium in Malaysia.
They displayed a short movie called “The Passport to Universe” which was narrated by Tom Hanks. The show would be displayed even if there is only 1 audience and the entrance fee is only RM 2 per pax. The visual is projected onto the white-domed ceiling and you kinda have to lean your head and body backwards in the revolving chair.
After the 20-minutes show, we walked over to Kuching Civic Center. It was a approximately 3-storey’s height complex and was designed to be somehow like an octagon-shaped tower with a 360 degree view of Kuching City. The scenery up there was breathtaking 😀 I took pictures of Kuching City from every angle of the tower like a mad person. I hope I didn’t miss any view worth for shooting.
It was very quiet up there and I doubt there was anyone up there when we were running around the complex. Ok, enough with Kuching Civic Center.
Since the area was quite secluded and we could hardly see any cab around, we were trying to be adventurous and walked all the way down to the main street. The weather was super hot and we decided to stop by a small chinese stall located near the busy street for a cold drink. I had shaved ice again.
Nothing much to be seen here. We gave these places a try because it was listed on website as one of the must-visit historical places. It wasn’t cheap taking cab from one place to another. You should really consider renting a car if you wish to explore the whole Kuching City. 🙂
Exploring Kuching – Atap Street
After Brooke Memorial, we walked over to Atap Street.
Seriously, I love this street. It was a serene street and everything here was so ancient (in a good way :)). Most of the shops here were run by Chinese elders. I think they have been here since they were young. Maybe they have been here even since their grandparents or great grandparents’ time. Anyways, in my opinion, Chinese culture is very well-maintained here.
It was almost 11 a.m. when we reached Atap Street and we hadn’t had any food then. So, it was time for food hunting.
After having our brunch, we walked along Atap Street. I had an indescribable feeling as we marched on and I took as many pictures as I could to capture my memories here. I was so glad I actually spent time exploring Atap Street. It was so much different from hectic streets in KL.
Last Saturday
Went out with a friend to see a movie last Saturday. We watched When in Rome. The movie was alright. A typical romantic comedy with a typical happy ending. Nothing much to be analysed or commented. Went for nice japanese food after movie at Tokyo G 🙂
After that we did some shopping. I got myself something I wanted to try out some time ago…hehe^^
Got some nice food from my sister’s trip to Melaka as well…
Just a piece of bliss I found in my miserable life lately.
Kiss-A Kiss-A Kiss-A-Ten
Last Thursday, May, Daphne, Yuli and me had farewell makan with Yoke Yeng as she’s going to KT for clinical training for as long as 3 yrs *roll eyes-can u believe it*
We went makan at a japanese restaurant in Jaya 1 called Kissaten. You can find varieties of pasta, pizza, burger and japanese foods on their menu. It’s like a japanese-western restaurant, we only call it japanese restaurant coz of the japanese words we saw in the menu. lol
then we cam-whored a bit 😀
then our foods came
Remember that I mentioned the wallpaper was nice? After makan, we cam-whored kao kao with the wallpaper.
After that we went to Simply Fusion for dessert. And they brought me for a virgin tour to Cold Storage.
After that we balik rumah. Was glad that I joined them for makan 😀
